Good news for lovers of tacos and Mexican food in central Broward. Popular regional chain Tacocraft, which bills itself as “a semi-authentic boutique taqueria and tequila bar,” is coming to Plantation in late 2020.
Founding partner Marc Falsetto says Tacocraft signed a lease to join the lineup at Plantation Walk, a new complex being built at the former site of the Fashion Mall. Other eateries announced for the site, on University Drive just north of Broward Boulevard, include Mana Poke of Miami and Urban Bricks, a national fast-casual pizza chain.

Tacocraft is known for tacos made with fresh-pressed corn tortillas, a selection of margaritas and decor designed by Miami street artist Ruben Ubiera. It becomes the latest Fort Lauderdale brand to take part in Plantation’s restaurant resurgence, joining Yolo and Kaluz.
Falsetto says the 4,000-square-foot space will be located near Plantation Walk’s main entrance and feature a patio and takeout window. If all goes well, he expects Tacocraft to open in the final quarter of 2020.
Plantation Walk is one of three sites in central Plantation bustling with restaurant construction. Kaluz is slated to be built at 100 N. University Drive, former home of a Romano’s Macaroni Grill. Yolo and growing chains Whiskey Cake (based in Texas) and Lazy Dog (based in California) will be built at the former Sears in the Westfield Broward Mall, a redevelopment tentatively dubbed Plantation Social.
